Dog’s attack on 2-year-old investigated

LILBOURN, Mo. (AP) — Authorities in southeastern Missouri are investigating an attack on a 2-year-old girl by a pit bull.

KFVS-TV (http://bit.ly/vP5DOd ) reports that the toddler was attacked Monday afternoon in the town of Lilbourn. She suffered facial wounds, but her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

New Madrid County Sheriff Terry Stevens says authorities don’t yet know if charges will be filed. The dog was turned over to the sheriff’s department.
