Tuesday's Top 25 College Men's Basketball Capsules

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Kris Joseph had 17 points, Scoop Jardine added 14 and No. 1 Syracuse cruised past Bucknell 80-61 on Tuesday night.

The Orange (12-0) won their 30th straight nonconference home game.

It was only the second time Bucknell (7-5) has played the No. 1 team in the nation. The Bison lost to Duke, 84-50, on Jan. 2, 2006.

Bucknell entered the game 1-8 against Syracuse, but that lone win, a 74-69 triumph over the 17th-ranked Orange, came in the Bison's last visit to the Carrier Dome in November 2005.

Syracuse shot 50 percent in the opening half and held the Bison to 8-of-28 shooting (29 percent) to take a 39-22 halftime lead.

Mike Muscala finished with 14 points and seven rebounds for the Bison while Ben Brackney had 11 points and Joe Willman 10.

Bucknell entered the game shooting nearly 40 percent from long range and went 2 of 10 in the first half, finishing 7 of 22 for the game.

NO. 2 OHIO ST. 70, LAMAR 50

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Ohio State's Jared Sullinger bounced back from his latest injury to score 18 points and grab 11 rebounds.

Deshaun Thomas added 16 points for the Buckeyes (11-1).

Devon Lamb and Stan Brown each had 10 points for Lamar (8-4), which had a four-game winning streak come to an end. The Cardinals' record against Big Ten teams dropped to 1-5.

The Buckeyes had played three of their last four games without Sullinger healthy. The All-America missed two games with back spasms - including Ohio State's only loss, a 78-67 setback at No. 13 Kansas on Dec. 10 - and all but 6 minutes of Saturday's 74-66 win at South Carolina with an ankle injury.

But he warmed up without any obvious discomfort, was in the starting lineup and picked up his sixth double-double of the season.

The win was Ohio State's 32nd straight at home, extending the second-longest streak in school history.

NO. 3 KENTUCKY 82, SAMFORD 50

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Doron Lamb scored 26 points and Darius Miller added 17 as Kentucky extended its home winning streak to 41 games.

The Wildcats (10-1) played without Terrence Jones, who missed the first game in his collegiate career after dislocating the pinky on his left, shooting hand on Saturday.

The Wildcats scored the first 11 points of the game, pushed the lead to 45-22 at halftime and led by as many as 34 points late.

Drew Windler and Tyler Hood scored 11 points apiece for the Bulldogs (3-7).

Marquis Teague scored 14 points and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist added 10 for the Wildcats. Freshman Anthony Davis finished with eight points, nine rebounds, five blocks and three steals.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Kyle Kuric had 17 points and eight rebounds and Louisville escaped an upset on its home court to remain unbeaten.

The Cardinals (11-0) trailed 57-55 with 5:06 to play but went on a 9-2 run over the next 3 minutes, capped by a 3-pointer by Chris Smith that put them ahead 66-59 with 2:06 left.

NO. 15 PITTSBURGH 71, ST. FRANCIS (PA.) 47

PITTSBURGH (AP) - J.J. Moore scored 15 points and Dante Taylor added 14 points and eight rebounds for Pittsburgh.

The Panthers (11-1) won their ninth straight by holding the Red Flash (3-8) to 35 percent shooting and continuing their dominance on the glass. Pitt came in leading the nation in rebounding margin - grabbing 12 more a game than the opponent - and added to those numbers by outrebounding St. Francis 42-21.

Anthony Ervin had 13 points and Stephon Whyatt added 10 for the Red Flash, who never recovered after Pitt reeled off the game's first 13 points

St. Francis came in shooting 48 percent from the field on the season but missed its first eight shots and quickly fell behind by 23 points.
