ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (AP) — Sara Lee Corp. has plans to build a $3 million expansion that will create 55 new jobs at its St. Joseph meat-processing plant.
Mike Cummins, Sara Lee's spokesman, told The St. Joseph News Press (http://bit.ly/t0q0kr) that the company is starting a construction project in St. Joseph, but he declined further comment. He says the company will release further details later.
Information filed with the city of St. Joseph, however, shows that a building permit filed with the city said Miron Construction Co. of Neenah, Wis., will be the contractor for the 29,000-square-foot addition. Plans on file at City Hall also say the work will create the 55 jobs over three shifts.
The St. Joseph facility produces processed meats and employs about 650 workers, ranking it as St. Joseph's ninth-largest employer
