Nathan Nickolaus has been named the new city administrator, after serving in the interim for the past seven months.

During a closed session of the City Council on Monday night, Nickolaus was offered, and accepted, the full-time position, effective immediately.

Nickolaus has been the city counselor since 2003 and became the interim city administrator in May after Steve Rasmussen was terminated. Earlier this year, the city announced a decision to keep Nickolaus on as interim city administrator until November 2012 and defer the search process for a permanent city administrator accordingly.

Struemph said the city chose not to undertake what he called a $30,000 to $50,000 nationwide search because of the large need for a local person to fill the position.
