The federal education department has agreed to extend, for another two years, a waiver on accounting requirements for Missouri's "career centers," like those in Jefferson City and Eldon, U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer announced Tuesday.
Luetkemeyer, R-St. Elizabeth, issued his news release almost seven weeks after he and Missouri's eight other representatives and two U.S. senators sent Education Secretary Arne Duncan a letter on the subject. It asked why he wouldn't waive the regulation for the Missouri schools that require the nation's post-secondary schools to use only one accounting system when they file their annual financial reports, if they also apply for Title IV funds, which generally provide federal student aid.
