Missouri-Nebraska highway connection reopens

RULO, Neb. (AP) - Authorities say U.S. Highway 159 connecting the Big Lake area of northwest Missouri with Rulo in southeast Nebraska has been reopened.

The Nebraska Roads Department says that, according to the Missouri Transportation Department, flood repairs have been completed. The highway was reopened at 5 p.m. Sunday.

The Nebraska department says the highway was the last state line river crossing to reopen after flood repairs.

The Army Corps of Engineers released massive amounts of water from the dams along the Missouri River this year to deal with heavy rains and above-average snowmelt, causing record flooding in Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri and several states.
