Sunday, December 18, 2011
A Versailles woman was listed in critical condition Saturday at University Hospital in Columbia, following a one-vehicle wreck Friday night in Camden County.
According to Missouri Highway Patrol reports, Amanda Renfro, 22, was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Matthew Walters, 23, Stover.
The accident occurred around 6:10 p.m. on Whitehall School Road, just south of Purvis Road.
The Patrol said Walters was driving a 1972 Chevrolet southbound on Whitehall School Road, going downhill, when his brakes went out.
Investigators said he attempted to stop the car by driving into the woods, where it struck a large rock and a tree before coming to a halt.
Neither Renfro or Walters was wearing a seat belt, but Renfro was the only one listed with injuries.
She was flown to the Columbia hospital by helicopter.
