ST. LOUIS (AP) — A New York man has pleaded guilty in federal court in St. Louis to selling counterfeit World Series tickets.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports 31-year-old Shawn Turner of the Bronx was charged with trafficking in counterfeit goods and trafficking in counterfeit access devices. Turner pleaded guilty Friday to the counterfeit access devices charge and is scheduled to be sentenced March 8.
He was arrested Oct. 27 after a brief chase by St. Louis police who were keeping an eye out for bogus tickets after receiving several complaints.
Turner is on probation after being convicted on a fake ticket charge in Arizona earlier this year. Turner and seven other men were caught with 230 fake tickets two days before the Jan. 10 BCS Championship game between Auburn and Oregon.
