A Lohman man was listed in serious condition late Saturday night at University Hospital in Columbia, after being shot early Saturday and undergoing surgery that included the removal of a kidney.
Cole County prosecutors on Saturday charged another Lohman man with second-degree domestic assault in the case.
The charge said Vincent M. Trapani, 21, 3207 Spring Ridge Road, "caused physical injury to A.T. by means of a deadly weapon," and said Trapani and A.T. "were family or household members in that they were related by blood."
A probable cause statement by Cole County Sheriff's Deputy Ryan Petty said the victim was "shot through his left hand, into the left side of his abdomen and then (the bullet) exited through his back."
As prosecutors requested, Circuit Judge Jon Beetem set Trapani’s bond at $25,000. Deputies and an ambulance were sent to the home shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday, to what originally was identified as an accidental shooting.
