Area teams excited for chance to play in Shootout

While many high school students will be spending their extended holiday break busy resting up for the second semester, several local basketball teams will be hooping it up in Jefferson City.

And that’s OK with area coaches who spoke Wednesday at a press conference for the three holiday basketball events, including the 2011 Missouri National Guard Shootout.

“Without this game over Christmas we’d be looking at three weeks of practice,” Chamois boys coach Kyle Burkett said. “Everybody’s getting a little edgy with everybody by that time.”
