Local Law Enforcement Dealing With Increased Heroin Use
Wednesday, December 7, 2011
In a joint effort to more closely examine what appears to be an increase in heroin/opiate related overdoses in the Jefferson City/Cole County area, the Jefferson City Police Department and Cole County Sheriff’s Department are working together to gather the facts about what our local community can do to combat this trend.
We will be working with a number of different agencies and community groups to prepare an awareness campaign that will involve both the general community and area youth.
While a variety of sources claim some variance in statistical data in relation to the numbers of heroin/opiate overdoses, it is our intent to gather hard facts and present those facts in a forum that will serve to educate and inform. The end result is to enlist the community to assist us in what is most certainly a concern within our community, and to work together to make our community safer.

Yes let's educate our children! Education is the key to winning the battle on drugs, not criminal punishment! The more informed you are, the less likely you are to partake in nonsense like this!

This is what some of us have been working towards for months now. Thank you as we are losing far too many of our youth to this killer drug. Time to stop this. Community effort and support is out there, as our group has had tremendous response and thank everyone who is coming together.

if anyone has information they want to pass on please contact local law enforcement, if for whatever reason talking to them is uncomfortable enough to keep you from doing so, then please send private message on our page and we will pass it on for you and keep your identity anonymous if requested. Thank you
