Victim sent text asking for help during carjacking

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Kansas City police arrested a carjacker after a passenger in the victim's SUV texted friends asking for help.

The Kansas City Star (http://bit.ly/vmRWbN) reports a 27-year-old man was charged Saturday with first-degree robbery, kidnapping and armed criminal action.

Police say the man pointed a gun at two women leaving a Christmas party at a downtown bar early Saturday morning and demanded money.

When neither woman had any money, police say he got into the backseat of their vehicle and told them to drive to an ATM. Another person from the party became concerned when the driver gave him a worried look and followed the SUV.

The man sent a text to the passenger to see if they were all right. The woman responded by asking him to call police.
