Early morning fire destroys uniform truck

While the exact cause is unknown, no foul play is suspected in connection with a truck fire early Tuesday morning.

According to fire department reports, crews were dispatched at 2:33 a.m. to Holiday Inn Express on Jefferson Street.

Fire companies arrived to find a commercial vehicle on fire. Firefighters extinguished the fire and had the situation under control within 10 minutes.

The commercial vehicle was transporting uniforms and shop rags.

Firefighters remained on the scene, moving material around inside the vehicle to extinguish the smoldering fire. The vehicle was destroyed.

Fire investigators said it would be difficult to determine a cause for the fire, although spontaneous combustion could have been possible.

No injuries were reported.
