Nixon praises Nietzel's work

Public complaints about Gov. Jay Nixon's decision to hire former Missouri State University President Mike Nietzel as a senior policy adviser continue to be aired, with the latest centered on the governor's mid-June transfer of three people working on appointments to the state Insurance, Financial Institutions and Professional Registration department.

The Associated Press reported the transfers saved $184,000 in the Governor's Office budget, making plenty of room for Nietzel's $100,000 annual salary.

Nixon told Missouri's college and university presidents last week that Nietzel is worth it.
