Nixon promises new higher ed funding plans
Friday, August 26, 2011
His appointed task force still is working on the plans, but Gov. Jay Nixon told more than 100 Missouri public college and university officials Thursday he plans to include at least part of a new “Performance Funding” scheme for higher education in the state budget year that begins next July 1.
The governor said his plan’s main principles include tying future core funding increases to a school’s performance, based on “a small number of clear, statewide goals for which all institutions are held accountable, and one performance goal (decided by) each institution.”
