Sheriff gets nod to juggle funds for gas money

The Cole County Commission has agreed to allow the sheriff’s department to transfer money from the department’s contingency fund to cover fuel expenses for the rest of the year.
During a commission meeting Wednesday, Chief Deputy Capt. John Wheeler said the department believes it would take $71,000 to meet their needs, bringing their total fuel budget for 2011 to an estimated $202,000.
Last week commissioners voiced concerns on credit card bills from the sheriff’s department related to fuel charges ....

At prices ranging from $3-4.00/gallon and covering a large amount of square miles what does the commission expect?
