Missouri research center hosts tomato festival

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - It's tomatoes galore Thursday at an annual celebration of the squishy fruit at a University of Missouri research farm outside Columbia.

The Bradford Research and Extension Center holds its seventh annual tomato festival from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Guests can sample more than 100 kinds of tomatoes and more than 50 different types of peppers.

University researchers and extension specialists will give talks on tomato and pepper management, disease control and insect problems. Local vendors will offer salsa samples at the free event.
