Wednesday, August 24, 2011
Social networking is supposed to help users reunite with friends, but for one group, they’ve reconnected with the past.
A month-old Facebook page that has “taken off like life itself” has become a great source of nostalgic conversations and hometown pride for a group of current and former Jefferson Citians.
After noticing a Facebook page called “I Cruise the Boulevard,” in reference to Missouri Boulevard, Russell Rucker decided to create his own called, “You Know You’re From Jeff City when...”

There is one of these pages just about every surrounding town. This group page didn't even start with the one for Jefferson City. It followed after several others.

Big oops here - the picture and page you reference in the article is NOT the one created by Russell Rucker - his page is called "You Know you're from Jeff City..." Nice to give him credit, but would have been a lot nicer if the reporter and her editor had double checked before publishing the story to make sure the facts were correct. Poor reporting and is why I usually only read the obits.
Him - so what if there are others - I've got FB friends all over the world and the JC one was the first I saw. Lots of the others came after it. I think they are lots of fun - bring back lots of memories.

They are fun. I have commented on the one from my hometown with several memories. This article gives the impression that the one for Jeff City is the only one out there or at least that it was the first. I too have friends all over and have seen several of these pages before I seen the one for Jeff City.
