Jefferson City Council begins budget talks

Jefferson City Council members and city staff met Monday night for the first budget work session to hear Mayor Eric Struemph present his 2012 budget.

The proposed 2012 budget is roughly $74 million, with $2.26 million in adjustments from the previous year. Those adjustments include a $50,000 increase in funding for the Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce, which would put the total city funding to the chamber at $200,000.

The proposed budget also includes $600,000 for the long-discussed Conference Center.
