Summer study abroad changed local woman's view of life, world

She dreaded Spanish class and basketball was her life when Whitney Griffin attended high school at Helias in Jefferson City.

But a summer study abroad as a student at Westminster College in Fulton caught her attention.

The 2008 stay in Salamanca, Spain, was supposed to be just a summer experience in language and culture.
