Police to Enforce School Zone Laws Starting Thursday

The Jefferson City Police Department would like to remind motorists that school will be starting in Jefferson City on Thursday.

Motorists should pay particular attention when driving in and around school zones and be mindful of other drivers, bicyclists, or pedestrians within those reduced speed limit zones.

Beginning Thursday, Jefferson City police officers will saturate school zones and will vigorously enforce driving, seat belt, and child restraint violations. Through funding made possible by the Missouri Department of Transportation's Highway Safety Division, supplemental personnel will be on patrol in various school zones throughout our community.

As an additional reminder, school zone times are from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., unless the area is equipped with flashing warning systems, which then flash according to the times associated with the school the zone represents.
