FAA: 4 dead in small plane crashes in Idaho

BURLEY, Idaho (AP) - Officials say four people are dead after a small plane crashed and burst into flames Sunday afternoon in south-central Idaho.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Mike Fergus says the plane went down about 2:20 p.m. southwest of the Burley airport's runway.

He says it's still unclear if the plane was preparing to land or had just taken off.

Fergus tells The Associated Press that four people died in the crash, but he has no other information on them.

KMVT-TV quotes Burley city administrator Mark Mitton as saying that the four were all members of an Idaho family. No names have been released.

The Times-News reports that the fire ignited dry grass south of U.S. Highway 30. Burley firefighters responded to douse the flames.
