Grellner: No Helmig retrial for now
Sunday, August 14, 2011
For now, Dale Helmig will remain a free man, after being released in March from a life sentence without parole for the 1993 murder of his mother, Norma Helmig.
“I have decided to dismiss the case at this time,” Osage County Prosecutor Amanda L. Grellner said in a news release. “However, there is no statute of limitations for the crime of murder.
“This case remains an open and ongoing investigation."
Grellner gave no reasons for her decision, and declined to answer questions about it.
