Obama, Saudi king call for end to Syrian violence

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama has spoken with the Saudi king and emphasized the need for Syria's government to stop attacking its citizens.

The White House says Obama and King Abdullah agreed that Syria's "brutal campaign of violence" must end immediately.

The White House also says the leaders agreed to continue close consultations on the situation in the days ahead, and that Obama reaffirmed the long-term commitment of the U.S. to peace and security in the Arab world.
