CLINTON, Mo. (AP) - A 20-year-old Clinton man has been charged with killing one man and shooting at another at a park in the western Missouri town.
The Henry County prosecuting attorney's office said Friday that Cornell Anthony Cornelius has been charged with one count of first-degree murder in the death of 34-year-old Jason Eugene Abernathy of Clinton. Cornelius also faces one count of assault and two counts of armed criminal action.
Witnesses said three people fled the scene after the shooting Thursday night.
Police say Cornelius was arrested Friday and was being held on a $300,000 cash-only bond. No attorney was listed for Cornelius in online court records.
A news release from the prosecutor's office says it's possible others will be charged.
