Aug. 29 is the day Missouri’s Transportation Department plans to close Missouri 179, between Edgewood Road and state Route C in Jefferson City.
The expected three-month closing is part of the year-long construction of a diamond interchange between the highway and Mission Drive, which will go under 179 and connect the highway with the new St. Mary’s Health Center to be built east of the highway.
Closing the four-lane highway will allow construction crews to excavate the section where Mission Drive is to be built.

Mo-DOT didn't have to close Hwy 50 when they build the Eastland underpass. Why can't they build the Mission Rd underpass on 179 the same way?
