Robbery, assault charges filed after pregnant woman attacked

A Jefferson City man has been charged with first-degree robbery and first-degree domestic assault in connection with an incident that occurred over the weekend at a Cole County residence.

According to court documents, Eugene Gates, 29, of 3918 Dewberry Drive, was involved in an argument with his girlfriend who is approximately four months pregnant.
