For Jefferson City resident David Mauldin, the decision to enlist in the military was made on his behalf during the heart of the Vietnam War - a result of the draft system then in use.

And in spite of his once-youthful disillusionment with the lack of mentorship present in the Vietnam-era Army, Mauldin continued a proud military career spanning nearly four decades.
