Local resident David Mauldin served in Vietnam with the U.S. Army, and later retired from the Missouri National Guard as a sergeant major with 38 years of service.

For Jefferson City resident David Mauldin, the decision to enlist in the military was made on his behalf during the heart of the Vietnam War — a result of the draft system then in use.

And in spite of his once-youthful disillusionment with the lack of mentorship present in the Vietnam-era Army, Mauldin continued a proud military career spanning nearly four decades.
