Mullan helps Colorado beat Columbus 2-0

COMMERCE CITY, Colorado (AP) - Brian Mullan and Omar Cummings scored in the second half to lead the Colorado Rapids to a 2-0 victory over Columbus on Friday, putting the Crew's Eastern Conference lead at risk.

Mullan scored in the 55th minute and Cummings in the 79th for the defending champion Rapids, who moved within a point of third-placed Seattle in the Western Conference.

The result means Philadelphia can overtake Columbus for the East lead if it wins at home against Houston on Saturday.
