Orientations, open houses set at JCPS schools
Friday, August 5, 2011
Schools in the Jefferson City School District will be holding orientations and open houses Aug. 16-17.
All elementary schools in the Jefferson City School District will have an orientation from 5-7 p.m. Aug. 17.
Kathy Foster, elementary education director, explained: “These special orientations will give parents of students in kindergarten through fifth-grade an opportunity to visit the school with their child; to find their classroom; and to meet their teacher prior to the first day of school.”
Both the Lewis and Clark and Thomas Jefferson middle schools will hold an open house from 5-7 p.m. Aug. 16. The events are sponsored by the schools’ parent-teacher groups — the PTO at Lewis and Clark and the PTA at Thomas Jefferson.
Simonsen 9th Grade Center
An open house will begin at 7 p.m. Aug. 16 at Simonsen 9th Grade Center.
The evening will begin in the auditorium where parents and students will have the opportunity to meet the administrative team, counseling staff, teachers and PTO board members.
Because parking at Simonsen is at a premium, the district has received special permission from Jefferson City’s government to use the parking lot at the corner of Jackson and East McCarty streets for the open house.
