Sheriff's Department: ‘Best fair’ in terms of trouble

One positive aspect of the oppressive heat is that it may have reduced the crime at the fair this year.
Though the Jefferson City Jaycees Cole County Fair was not incident-free, Sheriff’s Capt. John Wheeler considered this year “by far, the best fair.”
With 19 people ejected and seven arrests made, the reasonably quiet fair was pleasing to Wheeler.
