Sheriff: Dog that bit boy euthanized

A pit bull that reportedly attacked a 10-year-old Cole County boy Thursday evening has been euthanized.

According to Sheriff Greg White, this was done Friday at the owner's request.

According to sheriff's department reports, deputies were called to 5234 Veil of Tears Drive just before 8 p.m. Thursday.

"The child who was bitten had gone over to play with the kids where this dog lived," said White. "Apparently they were playing on a trampoline, and it was during that time that the attack occurred."

Ten-year-old Luron Johnson said he was pushed off the trampoline and one of the kids told the dog to attack him.

Johnson was bitten just above one of his eyes. He said he had to fight off the dog because the other kids were laughing and wouldn't help him.
