LU event to highlight needs of poor
Friday, April 29, 2011
Lincoln University’s Iota Phi Theta fraternity is hoping to bring the campus and the Jefferson City community together for an event that could have an impact across the country and world.
Lamont Brown, event coordinator for Walk a Mile in No Shoes, said the event is modeled after one he and other fraternity members took part in at Illinois State University where they walked around the school’s quadrangle barefoot for poverty awareness.
This event will take place from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at Lincoln University on the quadrangle near Chestnut Street in front of Young Hall.
The fraternity is asking those attending to bring canned foods, clean clothing and monetary donations to benefit those in need, here in Jefferson City and around the world.
For more information, call Brown at 314-724-2942.
