Of all of the projects that the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce is studying for its economic strategic plan, “Transformation,” Ken Hussey thinks one stands above the rest in terms of potential — the redevelopment of St. Mary’s Health Center.
But he might be a little biased. He is the co-chairman of the action team that is looking at the project. Still, that doesn’t change the fact that there are plenty of ....

Two words....Conference Center!!

It would be perfect for a conference center. The parking garages are already built, and it isn't in the flood plain.
Either a conference center or knock it down and rebuild the tri-level and S-curve.

What does St. Mary's have to do with the S-curve?
JCLifer 2 years ago
MoDot said they had to build the Tri-Level and the S-curve like that because St. Mary's was in the way.

Who at MoDOT said that? The history of the S-curve is a complex one, but I'd be willing to wager St. Mary's had nothing to do with it. Capitol Regional is the hospital next to the S-curve. Also, a straight line to would go through South school and Trinity Lutheran.
The Tri-level is a different story.

Has St. Mary's given any indication that they're going to sell the property?

I know lets do what Jefferson City, and the State of Missouri does best......"Lets make it another State Office Building and call it "Truman 2" the Second and last building to end all buildings for the State and fill it with more Bureaucrats! I can see the Headline "Missouri consolidates offices to the Truman 2 building ending remote locations", wink, wink, what a joke.
No one has ever answered my question as to who's idea and who authorized another State Agency Moving into the Unilever Warehouse? I was led to believe that area is an Industrial Park for industry not Bureaucrats! Who owns the building and is the State paying a huge rent to the City or Unilever? One would think citizens would be outraged that the State is filling a building that should be marketed to promote an Industry to come to Jefferson City to produce or store a product which creates JOBS!

I would suspect the owner of the building had the idea to lease it to the state if that's indeed what happened. People who own property look for ways to procure tenants. I doubt they care if it's the state or anyone else. If tenants pay the rent as agreed, aren't doing anything illegal and maintain the property as agreed, it doesn't matter to property owners. Or are you suggesting private property owners should not be allowed to lease to the state?

Nope I agree. Just wish someone knew who owned the building if it is the City or Unilever. It seems that no one knows anything about the quiet moving in of the State. Nothing in the paper and nothing in the news. Seems very odd to me such a big move into such a large building and no one knows? Extensive remodeling was done in the Fall after Unilever left. Plus, none of the posters on this board know nothing either and that is odd in itself.

All you need to do is go check the deeds at the courthose. Or are you one of those that want everything done for them. Show some initiative.

I will take that as not an impudent remark. I do know how to do research and have done extensive genealogical research and am well aware of public records and searches. So no, I do not want everything done for me. I only thought that someone on this board might know. Excuse me for thinking it might be of the public's interest as to why an Industrial Park is now a center of Government bureaucracy.

to me it appears that the property never changed hands and they are just leasing it now.
