That power grab would be a good thing. It would let the voters - that's us - and our elected representatives have more power, and would take power away from the televison talking heads, the lobbyists, the Super-PACS, and the dissembling spokesmodels like Mr. Blumel.
Term limits is the biggest factor in the gridlock we call politics these days. No one lasts long enough in office to learn anything about the job they were elected to do. Instead, they get elected by shouting bumper-sticker slogans and dividing the people into smaller and smaller groups that hate one another over things they never knew were problems until they heard the slogans and read the bumper stickers.
Mr. Blumel would be ashamed of what he has accomplished if he knew how government is supposed to work. Yes, government is supposed to work! It is supposed to protect us from the external enemies and internal criminals who would harm us. It is supposed to keep our food, water, and air safe. It is supposed to make business fair and hard work profitable. Instead, the politicians have to spend all their time raising money and counting votes for the next election, and the people have to fear for their lives and safety because no one is minding their business.
