CHICAGO (AP) - Jeff Baker hit a tiebreaking two-run double in the eighth inning and the Chicago Cubs got a banner day from the top of their lineup in a wild 10-8 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday.
Starlin Castro, Darwin Barney and Marlon Byrd combined for nine hits, six RBIs and four runs as Chicago roughed up Ted Lilly in his return to Wrigley Field. Castro tied a career high with four hits and Reed Johnson went 2 for 3 and scored twice.
The Dodgers scored seven unanswered runs to take an 8-5 lead before Chicago responded with a five-run eighth.
Mets 6, Diamondbacks 4
NEW YORK (AP) - Jason Bay homered and drove in three runs, Ike Davis went deep for the third straight game and the peppy Mets held off the Diamondbacks for their third straight win.
Dillon Gee (2-0) went six innings and allowed two earned runs, an RBI triple by Stephen Drew and a solo homer by Miguel Montero that tied the game in the sixth.
Daniel Murphy made his young teammate a winner, though, atoning for an error that led to two unearned runs for Arizona with a go-ahead single later in the sixth inning. Murphy then gave the New York bullpen a bit of breathing room with another RBI single in the eighth.
Barry Enright (0-2) got hammered again for Arizona, allowing five runs and 12 hits in 5 2-3 innings. He's allowed at least four runs in all four of his starts this season.
Braves 5, Giants 2
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Tim Hudson outdueled Tim Lincecum and came within one out of his first complete game this year, leadoff man Martin Prado drove in Atlanta's first three runs and the Braves secured just their third series win of the season.
Hudson (3-2) followed up Tommy Hanson's strong outing a night earlier with his own impressive performance in a matchup of two undersized, hard-throwing righties. Hudson allowed nine hits, struck out four and didn't walk a batter in an efficient, 112-pitch outing.
Lincecum (2-2) was tagged for five runs and six hits in 6 1-3 innings after he carried a no-hit bid into the eighth inning Monday at Colorado.
Reds 5, Cardinals 3
ST. LOUIS (AP) - Miguel Cairo hit a two-out, two-run, go-ahead single in the eighth inning to lift Cincinnati past St. Louis.
The slumping Reds had lost seven of nine games before picking up the victory that snapped a three-game St. Louis winning streak.
A throwing error by Cardinals third baseman David Freese led to three unearned runs in the eighth and Miguel Batista (1-1) and two other St. Louis relievers could not pitch around it.
Former Cardinals closer Ryan Franklin gave up a two-run single to left field by Cairo.
Aroldis Chapman (1-0) got two outs in the seventh and Francisco Cordero pitched the ninth for his third save and No. 293 for his career, tying him with Jason Isringhausen for 22nd all-time.
Rockies 3, Marlins 1
MIAMI (AP) - Jason Hammel pitched a season-high 6 2-3 innings and bunted home a run to give Colorado's sputtering offense a boost.
The NL West-leading Rockies snapped Florida's four-game winning streak and improved to 8-2 on the road.
Hammel (2-1) allowed seven hits and one run. Three relievers combined to pitch 2 1-3 perfect innings, and Huston Street pitched the ninth for his seventh save in as many chances.
Colorado's bullpen has allowed just two runs in the past 22 1-3 innings.
Pirates 7, Nationals 2
PITTSBURGH (AP) - Andrew McCutchen scored three runs, stole two bases and singled to spark a five-run first inning for Pittsburgh.
Lyle Overbay had two hits and two RBIs to help the Pirates end a three-game losing skid, and Jose Tabata and Ronny Cedeno had two hits each.
Jeff Karstens (2-0) pitched into the seventh inning for his first win since moving into the starting rotation a week earlier in place of the injured Ross Ohlendorf. Karstens allowed two runs and six hits in six-plus innings with one walk and three strikeouts.
Jayson Werth homered for Washington, which lost its third game in a row, and Mike Morse had two hits.
Astros 9, Brewers 6, 10 innings
MILWAUKEE (AP) - Humberto Quintero hit a two-out, two-run double in the 10th inning to lift Houston.
Quintero's big hit off Sean Green (0-1) came the inning after he couldn't tag Ryan Braun quickly enough in a play at the plate that completed Milwaukee's rally from a three-run deficit.
Houston snapped a four-game losing streak at Miller Park and won its first game when allowing four runs or more this season.
Brandon Lyon (1-1) and the Astros bullpen blew another lead, but Quintero picked the group back up.
Braun hit a two-run homer in the seventh to extend his streak of reaching base safely to 20 games and Prince Fielder added two RBIs to give him an NL-best 21, but it wasn't enough.
Phillies 4, Padres 2, 11 innings
SAN DIEGO (AP) - Ryan Howard hit a two-run, opposite-field double to left field with two outs in the 11th inning and Philadelphia beat San Diego.
The NL East-leading Phillies have won the first three games of this series, with reigning NL Cy Young Award winner Roy Halladay scheduled to start Sunday's finale.
Placido Polanco hit a leadoff single off Chad Qualls (0-2), was sacrificed by Shane Victorino and took third on Peter Orr's groundout. After Jimmy Rollins was intentionally walked, Howard hit a fly ball to deep left off Cory Luebke that Ryan Ludwick couldn't get his glove on.
Kyle Kendrick (1-1) pitched a perfect 10th for the win. Ryan Madson pitched the 11th for his second save in as many chances.
