The Rev. Benjamin “Ben” Nwosu is happy to share the sacraments and his faith with parishioners in the Diocese of Jefferson City — a tradition handed down for nearly two millennia since Jesus resurrection, celebrated today across the globe.
The West brought the faith to Father Ben’s homeland of Nigeria beginning in the 15th century with the Portuguese. Then it blossomed under Irish missionaries, Father Ben said.
“They came with love and built schools, hospitals and churches,” Father Ben said. “That’s why the Catholic church has grown there.
“So I came here and saw the same need.”
