Franklin on top of Mizzou depth chart at QB

Missouri released its post-spring depth chart Friday and as expected, sophomore quarterback James Franklin is listed as No. 1 and redshirt freshman Tyler Gabbert is listed second.

The two are battling to replace Blaine Gabbert, who left for the NFL following last season.

Missouri coach Gary Pinkel said following last Saturday's Black and Gold Game nothing was settled at the quarterback position and no decision will be made on a starter until closer to the season.

Franklin was No. 1 entering the spring and Tyler Gabbert, Blaine's younger brother, was third. Tyler Gabbert impressed the coaches early in the spring and pulled even with Franklin. Franklin finished Saturday's game completing 13-of-21 passes for 116 yards and two touchdowns, while Gabbert was 8-of-22 for 48 yards and an interception.

Travis Ruth (Jefferson City High School) is listed at No. 1 on the depth chart at center. He entered spring in a battle for the starting position but became the clear No. 1 as spring practice progressed. Ruth played in all 13 games last season on the offensive line.

Terrell Resonno (Jefferson City High School) is listed at No. 1 on the depth chart at defensive tackle. Resonno started all 13 games at defensive tackle last season.

Missouri opens the season Sept. 3 at home against Miami (Ohio).
