Okla. man drowns at Lake of the Ozarks

OSAGE BEACH, Mo. (AP) - One man is dead but another managed to swim to safety after they were thrown from a boat at the Lake of the Ozarks.

The Missouri Water Patrol says the two tumbled into the water Thursday when their 18-foot fishing boat struck two cruiser wakes.

The patrol says the boat's operator, a 39-year-old Kansas man, was able to swim to shore. But 53-year-old William Ray of Newcastle, Okla., didn't make it.

A fire boat pulled Ray from the water. He was taken to a hospital where doctors pronounced him dead about 90 minutes after the accident.
