Corps to release more Missouri River water

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - The Army Corps of Engineers plans to release more water from two Missouri River dams in southeast South Dakota.

The corps said it needs to continue evacuating flood water from the main stem reservoir system.

Discharges from Fort Randall Dam at Pickstown and from Gavins Point Dam at Yankton will gradually be increased starting Monday. The corps said the discharge rate will be increased as flood runoff from rivers below Yankton decreases.

March runoff into the Missouri River reservoirs was more than double the normal amount.
