Hours before the midnight deadline for Missourians to file their state and federal income tax forms, and using Jefferson City's Main Post Office as a backdrop, state Sen. Luann Ridgeway told reporters Monday afternoon it's time to eliminate income taxes altogether.
"What we're really seeking from the people is to answer this question: "Would you rather, on this tax day, not have to come here (to the Post Office) and pay more of your hard-earned tax dollars in an income tax but, instead, eliminate that and trade it out for a broad-based consumption tax, or a sales tax?'"
Ridgeway, R-Smithville, introduced a proposed Constitutional amendment last December to have voters approve that change - but her proposal ....
