Man killed in Boone County home invasion

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - The Mid-Missouri Major Case Squad is investigating a fatal shooting during a home invasion at an apartment complex just north of Columbia.

The Boone County Sheriff's Department says 27-year-old Donnell Coleman was pronounced dead shortly before midnight Sunday. The shooting took place at the victim's apartment.

Detective Tom O'Sullivan told the Columbia Daily Tribune that Coleman was shot once after two men forced their way inside. A woman and child were also in the apartment but were not injured.

Authorities are looking for a motive as well as the two suspects who drove off from the scene. O'Sullivan says investigators were trying Monday to find acquaintances who might know if someone had been angry with Coleman.
