Cole County jail nears completion

Under current projections, in early June prisoners could be moved into the new Cole County Jail.

During their monthly update on jail progress, county commissioners were told that due to the contractor working on security electronics needing more time for installation, the date to have everything completed at the new facility will be near the end of May.

“I think they overestimated what they could do and how fast they could do it,” said Mike Smith of Septagon, the jail project manager.
