PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Kenny Cooper scored against his former club and the expansion Portland Timbers won their second straight match with a 3-2 victory on Sunday against FC Dallas.
Captain Jack Jewsbury and Rodney Wallace also scored for the Timbers (2-2-1), playing for the second time in three days before a sellout crowd at their renovated downtown stadium.
Kalif Alhassan had two assists for Portland.
David Ferreira and Brek Shea each had late goals for FC Dallas (1-3-1) to avoid the shutout.
The Timbers were coming off a 4-2 victory - their first in Major League Soccer - over the Chicago Fire on Thursday for Portland's home opener at Jeld-Wen Field. The scoring flurry came despite a steady downpour.
Galaxy 2, Fire 1
BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. (AP) - Chad Barrett and Omar Gonzalez scored their first goals of the season, leading the Galaxy to a victory over the Fire.
Los Angeles was without its three biggest stars but still managed to extend its unbeaten streak to four matches (2-0-2). David Beckham and Juninho were serving suspensions, and Landon Donovan was out with an inflamed right knee.
Dominic Oduro scored in the 88th minute for Chicago (1-3-1), which has lost three straight.
Barrett put Los Angeles in front in the 42nd minute, converting from 10 yards out. Gonzalez's perfect header made it 2-0 in the 72nd minute.
The Galaxy also played without midfielder Jovan Kirovski, who served the second of his two-game suspension for verbal abuse of an official.
Dynamo 1, Revolution 0
HOUSTON (AP) - Hunter Freeman scored in the 86th minute and the Dynamo beat the Revolution for their second straight win.
Cam Weaver helped set up the goal when he headed Brad Davis' corner kick off the crossbar, and the ball went straight up. Freeman cleared room in a pack of Revolution players and tapped it in.
Freeman's score came after Bobby Boswell's shot went through a group of New England players and appeared to go over the endline, but Zack Schilawski cleared it away, and it was not called a goal.
Houston (2-1-2) also extended its unbeaten streak to four games.
Matt Reis made seven saves for New England (1-2-3), which has lost two straight and is winless in its last four.
