Your Opinion: Are we on another crash course?

Dear Editor:

I read in the April 5 edition that Missouri senators endorsed a plan to downsize the state Legislature by 60 members, 163 to 103.

Whoa, stop, we need and want adequate representation, not less, for all constituents. There are other ways to save money. Noble in motive but far reaching in purpose.

What the heck are we going to do with our federal government. They are nine months behind in approving a budget for 2011. The Senate and administration want a $33 billion cut from current spending levels.

Now that is a slap in the face of all Americans. A .87 percent reduction, come on senators, not even a 1 percent cut in spending when we have over a trillion dollar deficit.

The House Republicans are proposing $61 billion and that is not cutting enough. More power to the freshmen representatives. Stay the course; do not join he Washington Club of Status Quo. Do not let the old Republicans beat you down.

I'm beginning to wonder if the Obama administration is the second coming of the Herbert Hoover era of the 1930s. He was cursed with the greatest economic collapse in history. The economic crisis was met in America by progressivism.

Around the world were different responses. Germany turned to Hitler; Italy to Mussolini; Japan to Hirohito. The war that was not supposed to be was fast approaching.

Now we have the Obama era with a depressed economic $1.6 trillion deficit.

There are revolutions all around the world. Are we on a crash course to another world war?

Our president has no clue as what to do or what not to do.

The solutions always seem so simple when politicians proclaim them.

The problem is that these broad solutions rarely work the way they are supposed to work.
