Meadowlands Racetrack tellers force showdown

The future of the Meadowlands Racetrack is uncertain after tellers refused to consider a 20 percent pay cut.

Bob Liguori of Laborers International Union of North America Local 137 told The Record newspaper the tellers and admissions workers can't afford to take the deal.

New York real estate mogul and horseman Jeff Gural said the cuts were needed to make it financially feasible for him to take over management of the track.

Gov. Chris Christie has threatened to shut down the Meadowlands track except for major races because it is losing money.
