Bret Gerstner wanted the baseball.
“I’ve been waiting for it, I wanted to pitch against Rockhurst,” the Helias senior
said after tossing a complete-game four-hitter Friday night as the Crusaders topped the Hawklets 3-2 in the semifinals of the Capital City Invitational at Vivion Field.
With the win, the Crusaders advance to today’s 10 a.m. title game against the Eureka Wildcats at Vivion Field.
“It’s good to break the ice against those guys,” Helias coach Chris Wyrick said. “They always have an outstanding team.”
