Former Water Patrol employee charged

A former employee of the Missouri State Water Patrol has been charged with taking funds from the patrol for her own personal use.

According to court records, Ruth Tiefenbrunn, 45, St. Joseph, is charged with one count of felony stealing.

Between April 2008 and December 2009, she took nearly $3,200 from the patrol.

Discrepancies were found during an audit by the Missouri State Auditor's Office between the cash receipts and cash deposits for the boater education program.

Tiefenbrunn worked with the patrol from June 2001 and June 2010.

Between April 2008 and December 2009, Tiefenbrunn was solely responsible for creating a deposit log and depositing all monies related to the boater education program.
