Trash contract to face tweaking

The voters of Jefferson City may have made their opinion known on Proposition A, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t still work left to do with the city’s trash contract.

The proposition that would have removed the requirement that all residents have their trash collected by an authorized collector, Allied Waste, was defeated by a 74 percent majority on Tuesday night.

But with 26 percent of voters voicing their opinion against the current system, some members of the City Council take that as an indication of work yet to be finished.

If the citizens had not complained, it may not have gotten to the tweaking phase, but it's good it did. You just acan't "run over" some people and have them "take it". Maybe there can be a happy medium to the problem to make both parties agreeable about something. The pickup should not be mandatory, but a choice. Surely the City wants their town to be neat and clean! Thanks voters.

Does "tweaking" mean that the rates will go up?
