Your Opinion: Views on Prop. A Letter 2
Saturday, April 2, 2011
On April 5 the voters of Jefferson City will have the opportunity to vote on Proposition A. After examining the facts I would urge folks to vote no on Proposition A.
If passed, this proposition would throw away the excellent trash and recycling system we currently have here. Allied Waste’s efficient waste-hauling equipment cannot accommodate plastic bags. Allied Waste is the only trash-hauling company with a landfill to take collected waste in Central Missouri. That is the present and the future reality.
Proposition A will not move Jefferson City forward as a community. We currently have trash/recycling rates that are lower than most cities of our size. We are getting more service and paying at least $5 less each month than residents outside the city limits in Cole County.
Don’t throw our excellent trash and recycling service away.
Please go to the polls on April 5 and vote no on Proposition A.
